The Tiger Transition Team (T3)

Teacher - Mrs. Kiersten Shelton (MIC3 Compact 101 Training)

The Tiger Transition Team is a student-led organization dedicated to assisting military-connected students as they adjust to a new school environment. Since military families frequently relocate due to deployments or assignments, students often face challenges such as adapting to new academic expectations, making friends, and adjusting to different school cultures. This group provides resources, mentorship, and a welcoming community to help ease the transition process.

Mission and Goals:

  • Provide Peer Support: Assigning student mentors to newly arrived military students to help them navigate the school system, answer questions, and offer friendship.
  • Emotional and Social Support: Creating a safe space where military students can share their experiences, connect with others who understand their challenges, and access mental health resources if needed.

Activities and Initiatives:

  • New Student Orientation: A special program designed to introduce military students to the school, its resources, and fellow classmates.
  • Buddy System: Pairing new military students with experienced peers to provide guidance and friendship.

By creating a supportive and welcoming environment, a The Tiger Transition Team helps ease the stress of frequent relocations and ensures that military-connected students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally in their new school.
