National Read Across America Week was first celebrated in 1998. The first week of March was chosen for this week because March 2nd is the birthday of beloved children's book author Theodore Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss. The students at Southeast Elementary celebrated the week in different ways. Guest readers from our community came and read to classes, Pre-K and kindergarten dressed as characters from Dr. Seuss books, classes were decorated in "Seuss style", and kindergarteners even ate green eggs and ham in the cafeteria. It was a great way to emphasize the joy that reading brings. Check out the photos to see just a little bit of all the great activities of the week.
