Who says that competitions are only for sports? Not us! We had a math competition for our students on May 13th. Four students were chosen from each class to participate in the math bowl. Students were chosen based on interest and math assessment scores. These students were then grouped into teams of four with other students from their grade. The teams met for practice and then the Math Bowl. Parents were allowed to attend as the teams worked to find the answer to challenging math questions. The first team to signal that they were finished was given a chance to answer. They earned points and eventually a winner was declared. This was an exciting way to encourage students to work hard on their math skills.
The first place teams for each grade were:
Kindergarten - Sawyer Nelson, Emily Henderson
First Grade - Parker White, Brooklyn Owens, Delilah Bartlett,
Second Grade - Noah Adams, Whitley Pierce, X'Zavier Phillips, Ruby Moseley
Third Grade - Reylan Jensen Salas, Charlie Smith, Kinsley Fisher, Joslyn May
Fourth Grade - Jacob Woodall, Jeremiah Mangrum, Kylie Canterbury, Olivia Ross
